About The President and Co-Founder

Dr Tom Lien is originally from Santa Monica, California. He received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry where he graduated with honors and was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society (OKU). He continued his post-doctorate studies at NYU where he completed his residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopedics. During his residency, he was a clinical instructor in Invisalign and a seminar lecturer for pre-doctoral students on the theory of Orthodontics, as well as the diagnosis and treatment planning of patients. He was also the recipient of the NYU Research Award for his work on growth assessment and skeletal maturation. Upon completion of his residency, he taught at the NYU College of Dentistry Post-graduate orthodontic program as a clinical assistant professor where he instructed residents on Invisalign treatment as well as traditional braces. He was also the past Director for the Pre-Doctoral Invisalign clinical program. He is certified in Invisalign and lingual orthodontics and is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the New York University Orthodontics Alumni. Working with many dental students and his general dentist colleagues, Dr Lien realized that there was a significant deficiency in orthodontic training during dental school. With the support of colleagues, friends and family, Dr Lien created Practical Clinical Orthodontics (PCO) to empower general dentists to perform basic practical clinical orthodontics. What started off with general dentists eventually led to the aim of training orthodontic dental assistants and updating orthodontists on advanced techniques as well. PCO was created and designed by American Trained Orthodontists with a vast range of academic and teaching experience so that you will be confident to start treating patients with basic orthodontics right after your first module.
